Jenna Ellis, the former lawyer for the Trump campaign, has entered a guilty plea in the Georgia election subversion case and has agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in Fulton County. This marks the third guilty plea in the past week related to this case.

During an unscheduled hearing in Atlanta, Ellis pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting false statements, which is a felony connected to the election misinformation spread by her and other lawyers representing Donald Trump in Georgia in December 2020.

As part of her sentence, Ellis will serve five years of probation and is required to pay $5,000 in restitution. She delivered an emotional statement in court, expressing deep regret for her involvement in Trump's attempts to overturn the 2020 election. She stated, "If I knew then what I knew now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges."

This development follows previous guilty pleas in the same case from former Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, who was involved in devising a fake electors scheme.

All three individuals, Ellis, Chesebro, and Powell, have agreed to testify on behalf of the prosecution in future trials. Their cooperation is significant for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is pursuing legal action against Trump, Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and others, all of whom have pleaded not guilty.

With these plea deals, these former Trump insiders have now become key figures in the legal proceedings, shedding light on the events and activities behind the scenes during the 2020 election.

Originally, prosecutors had charged 19 people in this extensive case, with four individuals having pleaded guilty so far.

In her tearful court apology, Ellis expressed her remorse for her "failures" and the lapse in her diligence as a lawyer. She acknowledged that she relied on others for information, failing to verify the accuracy of the claims made by fellow lawyers, which included false allegations of voter fraud in Georgia.

Notably, Ellis's plea implicates Rudy Giuliani in a state crime related to false statements to Georgia legislators. Giuliani has denied any wrongdoing.

As part of the plea agreement, Ellis's original charges, including a violation of Georgia's RICO law, were dropped. This has led some to speculate about the nature of the RICO case, with Trump lawyer Steve Sadow suggesting that it's being used as a bargaining tool.

One stipulation of the plea deal is that Ellis is prohibited from posting anything on social media about the case while the legal proceedings are ongoing against any of the defendants.

In a separate matter in Colorado, where Ellis practices law, she admitted to making false public statements about the election and was censured by a judge, agreeing to pay $224 to end a misconduct probe.

It's worth noting that Jenna Ellis has distanced herself from Trump in recent months and has publicly supported Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in the 2024 Republican presidential primary. Following her indictment, she raised over $216,000 through an online crowdfunding website, expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of financial support from pro-Trump groups.
