Recognized as the 2018 AP Defensive Rookie of the Year and earning three first-team AP All-Pro nominations during his tenure in Indianapolis, Leonard's on-field presence resonated with Colts fans through his tackles, interceptions, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries. Colts Owner and CEO Jim Irsay praised Leonard's remarkable energy and off-field contributions to the community, expressing gratitude for his substantial role within the organization.

Despite his stellar career, Leonard encountered challenges in recent seasons due to injuries. He underwent multiple surgeries in 2022 to address a nerve issue, limiting his appearances to just three games in the previous season. Although he made a return in 2023, starting in nine out of the ten games, his playing time was restricted primarily to first and second downs.

In 2023, Leonard's defensive field time reduced to nearly 70%, a notable drop from his pre-surgery involvement of over 95% in Colts' defensive snaps. Notably drafted as the No. 36 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft from South Carolina State, Leonard immediately showcased his prowess by setting a Colts record with 163 tackles in his debut season, along with impressive interceptions, forced fumbles, and sacks.

General Manager Chris Ballard acknowledged Leonard's contributions over the six seasons, praising his competitiveness and acknowledging his status as a fan favorite. Leonard's resilience was evident in his pursuit of excellence, despite battling ankle pain during the 2021 season, which ultimately led to surgeries and subsequent game absences.

Throughout 2023, Leonard showcased his abilities with 65 tackles and two tackles for a loss over nine games. Head Coach Shane Steichen lauded Leonard's unwavering energy, competitive spirit, and leadership qualities, expressing his best wishes for Leonard's future endeavors.

Additionally, Leonard's commendable off-field contributions were recognized, earning him the Colts' 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year and Ed Block Courage Award nominations, further highlighting his impact both on and off the field.
