Russia Denounces Reports of Troop Movements in Ukraine as "Provocation" 

Russia's Ministry of Defence dismisses recent media reports about the regrouping of its troops in Ukraine as a "provocation." The ministry labels the accounts, initially published by RIA Novosti and TASS agencies, as "false," leading to a swift withdrawal of the reports. The alleged troop movements, focusing on the Dnipro area, were refuted by the Russian Defence Ministry, emphasizing the deceptive nature of the information.

The Kremlin's spokesperson refrains from commenting on the incident, signaling a potential disarray within the military establishment concerning media communication. The ministry insists that such matters are within the domain of the military's purview.

Earlier in the week, Russia's military claimed to have thwarted a Ukrainian attempt to establish a bridgehead on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River and nearby islands. Reports from the US-based Institute for the Study of War suggest Ukrainian assaults across the Dnipro in the Kherson region in mid-October. Russian military bloggers corroborate ongoing Ukrainian ground operations on the east bank, revealing a complex and evolving situation.

As of November 12, the Institute for the Study of War's assessment notes that while Russia conducted limited missile strikes in southern Ukraine, there is a concerted effort by the Russian government to downplay the extent of its actions to control the information space.

Simultaneously, Ukrainian officials report heightened attacks by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, specifically near two key front-line cities. General Oleksandr Syrskyi notes increased Russian activity toward Bakhmut, suggesting attempts to reclaim previously lost positions. However, he reassures that Ukrainian forces are successfully repelling enemy attacks.
