Grand Theft Auto 6 Set for Impending Reveal, Trailer to Drop in December
Fans of the renowned open-world video game series, Grand Theft Auto (GTA), are in for a treat as Rockstar Games gears up to unveil Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). According to reports from Bloomberg, an official announcement regarding the highly anticipated title could come as early as this week. Furthermore, to commemorate 25 years of Rockstar Games, fans can expect a trailer for GTA 6 to be released in December.
This revelation follows Rockstar's confirmation in February 2022 that the development of the next GTA was well underway. Additionally, it has been reported that GTA 6 will introduce the series' first female protagonist, inspired by the notorious outlaws Bonnie and Clyde. The game's setting is said to be a fictionalized version of Miami, similar to the iconic location featured in 2002's GTA: Vice City.
An extensive leak from the previous year exposed around 90 videos showcasing gameplay from GTA 6. One of the notable highlights of this leak was the female playable character engaging in a restaurant heist. However, the leaked footage clearly demonstrated an early and unfinished state of the game, with placeholder text and debug mode indicators visible.
In a subsequent turn of events, a London jury determined that a member of the Lapsus$ hacking group, an 18-year-old named Arion Kurtaj, was responsible for high-profile cyberattacks on Rockstar Games, Uber, and Nvidia. Following threats against Rockstar Games, Kurtaj had disseminated the leaked GTA 6 gameplay videos.
If Rockstar is indeed on the verge of officially unveiling GTA 6, there is a possibility that they might also disclose a release timeline. Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) recently celebrated its 10th anniversary and has sold more than 185 million copies since its initial launch on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2013. Spanning across multiple console generations, GTA V continues to thrive, with GTA Online receiving regular content updates. As for GTA 6, it is anticipated to make its debut in 2024, marking the arrival of the successor to the highly acclaimed GTA V.
